Filmed in Winnipeg in August and September of 2005, it's a sequel to the hugely successful Category 6: Day of Destruction, about a giant storm. With Hurricane Katrina only a few weeks earlier, there was some concern that airing this miniseries would be in poor taste. But CBS executives promised that CATEGORY 7 "will feel removed from current events," and the miniseries aired on schedule.
