Sliders - "Luck of the Draw"

Ryan Simms was originally supposed to join the cast of Sliders as a regular, but the new producers didn't want to follow up on that, and anyway Nick had decided that he'd rather do X-Files than Sliders. So the character of Ryan disappeared rather abruptly at the beginning of the second season, in the episode "Into the Mystic."

SLIDERS is rerunning in the U.S. on the Sci-Fi Channel. It's also available on DVD, as a boxed set of the first and second seasons.
