Dear
Nick Lea and Fans,
Well,
who would have guessed that the answer to the great cosmic conspiracy
would be revealed just down the road from Best Friends?
Many of the Anasazi people (that first "shadow government" in the
final episode) lived here at Angel Canyon, the home of the sanctuary,
for hundreds of years before "disappearing" in the 14th century.
Better yet, there are more UFOs here than you can imagine. Just
go into any of the cat rooms at our TLC Cat Club, and an unidentified
flying object will take off from one of the rafters and land, purring,
on your shoulder.
X-Files aside, you guys have been just the tops in your support
of the animals here. They really appreciate it, and so do all of
us who work here. Thank you so much for your latest donation in
honor of Nick. And if you get a chance to visit your furry friends
here, they'll be delighted to introduce you to some of their favorite
alien strays, too!

This Year's Donation in Nick's Name for the Best Friend's Animal
Sanctuary

What can I say about a fantastic group of fans who, on very short
notice, raised $3480.23 for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary? Can you
believe our final total? As a fan community, you worked diligently
to make a difference for our furry companions.
I know if they had voices, they would be singing your praises. And
I'm sure Nick will be thrilled when he hears about what you've accomplished
-- whether it was sending money or doing something for your local
charities. It's been a pleasure to work on this campaign and what
a way to honor Nick. Just a reminder that we're still accepting
messages for Nick at the Web site http://www.nicklea.com/thankyounick/
and art is always welcome. I'm still drooling over many of the images
that have already been submitted.
While The X-Files has had it's finale and was the primary catalyst
for bringing us all together, we've formed some lasting friendships
through these lists that will outlive the series. And, we will continue
to support Nick as he entertain us with new projects. Thanks again
to everyone who participated.

Non-Monetary Donations
Nick
once told a fan gathering, "I just think sometimes that the focus
is a little misplaced. I would love to see everybody here take a
third of that energy and put it into their family or their community,
or the people on the street who need our help."
In
keeping with that theme, we have decided to include non-monetary
donations as another way to pay tribute to Nick. So we encourage
you to do something charitable (e.g. an hour of community service,
dropping off food at your local food bank, giving clothes to a women's
shelter, donating blood). Send us a note about what you've done
and we'll publish it here.
